How do I set a minimum order amount for customer checkout?

Overview

Very small orders often carry low profit margins after accounting for packaging materials and courier charges. StoreYug allows you to set a Minimum Order Amount, encouraging shoppers to add more items to their cart before completing checkout.

Step-by-Step: Setting Minimum Order Amount

  1. Navigate to Store Settings > Features tab.
  2. Find the Minimum Order Amount section.
  3. Set your desired subtotal threshold:
    • Example: Enter 500 to require at least ₹500 in cart value before a buyer can place an order.
    • To Disable: Enter 0 (or click the convenient ₹0 (Off) button) to allow orders of any size.
  4. Click Save Feature Settings. An active badge (e.g. ₹500 Active) confirms your threshold.

What Your Customers Experience

When a minimum order amount is active, StoreYug guides shoppers with helpful visual indicators in their cart and checkout screen:

1. Below Threshold

  • If a customer's cart subtotal is ₹350 and your minimum is ₹500, the checkout button remains locked.
  • A progress bar informs the shopper: "Add ₹150 more to place your order".
  • As the customer adds more items or increases quantities, the progress bar fills in real time.

2. Threshold Reached

  • Once the cart subtotal reaches ₹500 or more, the progress bar turns green with a confirmation: "Minimum order requirement met!".
  • The checkout button unlocks immediately.
📈 Boost Order Value: Setting a reasonable minimum threshold (e.g. ₹399 or ₹499) motivates customers to bundle items together, lowering your overall packing and delivery overheads.
