What is an HSN / SAC Code?

HSN (Harmonized System of Nomenclature) is an internationally standardized system of names and numbers to classify traded products. In India, the GST council mandates HSN codes on tax invoices for physical goods.

SAC (Services Accounting Code) is the equivalent code used for services.

Why Do You Need It?

• GST Legal Compliance: Required on business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-consumer (B2C) tax invoices once your turnover crosses statutory thresholds.
• Accurate Tax Filing: Ensures that your monthly and quarterly GST returns (GSTR-1) categorize items under the correct tax slabs.
• Customer Trust: Provides institutional and wholesale buyers with complete, audit-ready receipts.

Where to Enter HSN/SAC Code in StoreYug

1. Navigate to Products → Click + Add Product or click to edit an existing product.
2. Locate the HSN / SAC Code (Optional) input field situated directly below the Tax Rate selector.
3. Enter your 4, 6, or 8-digit HSN code for goods (e.g., 6205 for Cotton Shirts, or 6403 for Footwear) or SAC code for services.
4. Click Save Product. StoreYug will now print this HSN/SAC code on all generated customer invoices and GST reports.

Why is the HSN/SAC Code field not visible on my product form?

In StoreYug, the HSN / SAC Code input field is only displayed when your store is set up for GST tax compliance. If you do not see this field:

1. Complete the GST Setup Step: You must have a registered Tax ID (GSTIN) saved for your store. You can provide this during initial onboarding in the Setup Wizard (Billing & Tax step).
2. Enable via Store Settings: If you skipped it during setup or obtained your GSTIN later, simply open Store Settings from your dashboard sidebar, scroll to Tax ID / GSTIN, enter your 15-character GST number, and save.
3. Subscription Feature: Ensure your store's active subscription plan includes the GST Tax Management feature.
