Tax-Inclusive Pricing in StoreYug
In Indian retail and social commerce, customers expect all-inclusive pricing (MRP). StoreYug uses a tax-inclusive calculation model, ensuring that the price shown to the customer is the exact amount they pay.
How the Automatic GST Breakdown Works
When you assign a tax rate (e.g. 18% GST) to a ₹500 product, StoreYug automatically computes:
- Customer Payable Price: ₹500.00
- Base Amount (Excluding Tax): ₹423.73
- GST Tax Amount (18%): ₹76.27
This breakdown is automatically detailed on your digital receipts, POS printouts, and tax reports without requiring manual math.
How to Assign Tax to a Product
- Open the product in your Products catalog.
- Locate the Tax Rate (Optional) dropdown field.
- Select your applicable GST slab (e.g. GST 0%, GST 5%, GST 12%, GST 18%, or GST 28%).
- Optionally enter your product's HSN / SAC Code.
- Review the live breakdown boxes: Default Base (₹), Tax (₹), and Total (₹).
- Click Save Product.
Why is the Tax Rate field not visible on my product form?
If you do not see the Tax Rate dropdown or HSN/SAC Code fields on your product form, it is because your store has not configured a Tax ID yet or your plan doesn't include tax management:
- Entered During Store Setup: When you first create your store, you can enter your registered 15-digit GSTIN during the Setup Wizard (Billing & Tax step).
- Add or Update Anytime in Store Settings: If you skipped it or registered for GST later, you can add it at any time! Simply navigate to Store Settings in your dashboard sidebar, scroll to Tax ID / GSTIN, enter your 15-character GSTIN, and click Save Changes.
- Subscription Feature: Ensure your active subscription plan supports the GST Tax Management feature.
✅ Instant Unlock: As soon as your Tax ID (GSTIN) is saved in Store Settings, the Tax Rate and HSN/SAC Code fields immediately unlock on both the Add Product drawer and Edit Product page!
