How do I add stock for a product variant?

Overview

Whenever you receive fresh shipments from your distributor, complete a new production run, or enter your store's opening inventory balance, you can add stock directly to any product variant in StoreYug.

💡 Key Workflow: Every time you add stock, StoreYug automatically creates a dedicated inventory batch. If you enter a cost price, StoreYug uses it to track your purchase history and calculate accurate retail profit margins!

Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Open Inventory: In your StoreYug seller dashboard sidebar, click on Inventory.
  2. Select Product: In your product catalog list, click on the product whose stock you wish to update. This opens the variant-level stock management page.
  3. Click "+ Add Stock": Find the specific variant (e.g. Size: L / Color: Blue) and click the primary + Add Stock button.
  4. Enter Quantity to Add: Enter the number of physical units you have received (e.g. 25). This must be a whole positive number.
  5. Enter Cost Price per unit (Optional): Enter your purchase cost per single unit (e.g. ₹350.00). While optional, entering cost price allows StoreYug to calculate your total inventory valuation and profit margins automatically.
  6. Add Notes (Optional): Add reference notes for your accounting records (e.g. "Received from Apex Distributors, Invoice #INV-4029" or "Opening warehouse balance").
  7. Click "Add Stock": Your variant's on-hand quantity and total inventory valuation update immediately, and a new record is added to your immutable stock ledger.
✅ Best Practice: Always enter your supplier invoice or batch number in the Notes field. This makes end-of-month supplier reconciliation and invoice auditing effortless!
