How do customers get created and managed in StoreYug?

Overview

StoreYug includes a built-in Customer Relationship Management (CRM) directory that automatically organizes your shoppers, tracks their buying habits, and preserves their delivery addresses across all sales channels.

💡 Zero Manual Entry Needed: You don't have to manually register customer accounts. StoreYug captures and builds customer profiles automatically whenever an order is placed.

The 3 Ways Customers Enter Your Directory

  1. Online Storefront Checkout: When a buyer places an order through your digital catalog or WhatsApp storefront, StoreYug checks their mobile phone number. If it is a new number, a permanent customer profile is created with their name and delivery address. If the number already exists, the new order is seamlessly linked to their existing profile.
  2. In-Store POS Counter Billing: During counter checkout in POS Billing, cashiers can enter the customer's phone number and name. If they are a returning customer, their name and address auto-populate instantly. (For anonymous cash sales, cashiers can leave the default Walk-in Customer selected).
  3. Manual Seller Order Creation: When you record an order received via WhatsApp message, Instagram DM, or phone call using the + Create Order tool, entering a new contact number automatically adds them to your customer directory.

Phone Number as the Primary Identifier

In retail and e-commerce, phone numbers are the most reliable and consistent customer identifier. StoreYug enforces a strict uniqueness constraint on mobile phone numbers per store:

  • All orders placed with the same phone number are automatically grouped under a single, unified customer record.
  • Each customer also receives an immutable, secure UUID (Customer ID) for internal reference.

Navigating the Customer Directory

From your seller dashboard sidebar, navigate to Customers to view your active directory:

  • Total Customers Stat: Displays the complete count of all buyers who have interacted with your store.
  • Active Customers Stat: Shows customers currently in good standing who can place orders normally.
  • Blocked Customers Stat: Shows accounts restricted from placing orders due to fraudulent or abusive activity.
✅ Best Practice: Check your customer directory regularly to identify repeat buyers and review accounts with excessive cancelled orders.
