Why Block a Customer?
In retail and e-commerce, certain buyers can cause significant financial and operational losses. StoreYug includes a robust Customer Blocking security feature designed to safeguard your inventory and protect your business against fraud.
When to Consider Blocking
- Repeated Fake COD Orders: Buyers who place Cash on Delivery orders but refuse delivery at their doorstep, causing courier freight losses (RTO charges).
- Payment Defaults: Customers who fail to clear outstanding credit or payment dues.
- Fraudulent Return Claims: Shoppers who return used, damaged, or substituted items while demanding full refunds.
- Abusive Behaviour: Individuals who display hostile or inappropriate conduct toward store staff or delivery executives.
Step-by-Step Guide to Blocking a Customer
- Navigate to Customers from your sidebar and open the customer's profile.
- In the top action bar, click the red Block button. A security modal opens.
- Select Reason for Blocking (Required): Choose from StoreYug's standardized classifications:
• Repeated Fake Orders
• Abusive Behaviour
• Payment Default
• Fraudulent Activity
• Excessive Returns
• Other - Additional Reason Summary (Optional): Enter an internal note (up to 500 characters) explaining the context (e.g. "Refused 3 consecutive COD parcels; courier charges wasted.").
- Click Block Customer.
What Happens When a Customer is Blocked?
StoreYug enforces real-time restrictions across all sales channels immediately:
🛑 Immediate System Protections:
• Online Storefront Blocked: If the customer attempts to checkout on your digital catalog, StoreYug rejects the request with an error: "You are blocked and cannot place orders."
• Manual Creation Blocked: If staff attempt to create a manual order for this contact number, the system refuses: "This customer is blocked and cannot place orders."
• POS Search Exclusion: Blocked customers are automatically hidden from POS counter search autocomplete to prevent accidental billing.
• Audit Stamp: The profile permanently displays a red Blocked warning card showing the exact reason, notes, staff member who initiated the block, and the timestamp.
